The Museo VENINI S.r.l. was therefore established to deal with the cultural part of the brand, helping in organizing auctions, exhibitions and launches of new products and trying to create the already strong bond with our most loyal collectors.
The Museo VENINI was founded in 2009, when Giancarlo Chimento, VENINI’s President and CEO, decided to pay homage to the astonishing archive of drawings, images, prototypes and works that was found in the company’s headquarter in Murano.
The Museo Venini works with some of the most important cultural institutions from all over the world, both public and private, such as museums, foundations and auction houses. Thanks to their help, it contributes to protect the cultural heritage of the company and of Murano glass.
Its archive contains more than 45,000 drawings by worldwide renowned artists, such as Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti, Napoleone Martinuzzi, Tapio Wirkkala, Fulvio Bianconi and Tadao Ando; 10,000 photographs of architectonic installations, past exhibitions and people who have worked with Venini; and 5,000 works including prototypes which have never been launched on the market. Prototypes and drawings are often lent to the most important international museums to set up Murano glass exhibitions. The Museo Venini has become thus a benchmark for the glass art.
The Museo Venini aims to be inspiring for all those artists, architects and designers who will be working with the company. It tells a story about investigation, creation, passion and handicraft.
