Mario Bellini

Mario Bellini graduated in 1959 at the Polytechnic of Milan.
In 1963 he collaborated for the Olivetti and he designed a series of typewriters and calculators ( Lettera35, Tes401, ET III, Divisumma18 ). From 1962 to 1965 he taught at the Institute of Industrial Design of Venice. He designed furniture, household appliances, apparatus for hearing, hi-fi systems, lamps and many others.
Internationally renowned as an architect and designer, winner among others of 8 Compasso d’Oro and prestigious architecture awards including the Medaglia d’Oro conferred on him by the President of the Italian Republic (2004) and the “Ambrogino d’oro” conferred on the most prestigious citizens of the Municipality of Milan (2011).
He has given talks in the greatest centres of culture in the world and was editor of Domus. MoMA in New York, which dedicated a personal exhibition to him, has 25 works of his in its Permanent Design Collection.
He has had countless exhibitions in his name in Italy and abroad.
He began his collaboration with Venini in 1992 for which he designed the collections “Sogni Infranti” and “Uragano”. At the Salone del Mobile 2012 he presented the new collections Chimera e Canneti.
